Advanced Placement AP is a program of classes developed by the College Board to give high school students an introduction to college-level classes and also gain college credit before even graduating high school. 

CLEP

You are recognized and rewarded for what you know, no matter how or where you learned it. CLEP can help you get the college credits you need in order to reach your educational goals more quickly.  Moraine Valley is an open test site and offers all 33 CLEP exams to both students and the community at large.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) exam assesses student work and measures students' academic, intercultural and basic skills. Moraine Valley determines how it will apply external examinations toward credit in the program of study.

Achieved Prior Learning (APL)

Achieved Prior Learning (APL) is a way to earn credit at Moraine Valley for what you already know from prior learning or work experience. It is designed to help students at Moraine Valley obtain college credit without repeating material. Faculty members assess your knowledge through written examinations, interviews and performance tests.

Prior Learning Policies:

Students must be currently enrolled and working toward a degree/certificate at Moraine Valley. Course credit must be used to fulfill degree/certificate requirements.

Credit cannot be used to replace a previous grade earned in a course or to complete a course.

All work assessed for prior learning must meet or exceed a grade of “C”. Minimum cut scores on standardized tests are set at a “C” grade level. 

No letter grade is assigned, and these hours will not count toward a student’s grade point average (GPA).
